Superiority complex. Or is that complex superiority?

As a 1930s wife, I am
Superior

Take the test!

Well, la-tee-da!  I am admittedly a pretty traditional wife, at least with this particular husband.  :)   If not for the red nail polish and cooking in my jammies, I’d have been very superior, thank you very much.

Someone please tuck me in.

I am so    flipping     tired.  What on Earth am I doing here, awake, typing? Always with the typing.

The twins are coming on Friday. Alone. For a long weekend.  Surprise!  Good lord.  A girl can’t even make a decent escape around here without ISSUES.  Regardless, I pulled out my bag of tricks and fixed it.  I work all day Friday, I have a hot, humid date with the beach all day Saturday, and on Sunday I fully intend to watch chick flicks at the theater until the coast is clear.

My kids are with me this week and I wondered how they would deal with me working from home.  I figured there would be whining about being bored. No. Totally wrong.  They have so far done the following to keep themselves entertained, without being asked, I might add:

  • Cleaned out and rearranged all the kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, and pantry.
  • Re-alphabetized my spices.
  • Wiped down all the cabinets and appliances.
  • Cleaned their respective bathrooms, restocked soap and toilet paper, and cleaned the mirrors.
  • Babygirl has done all the laundry.
  • They have loaded and emptied the dishwasher.
  • They have taken out all the garbage and emptied all the waste paper baskets.
  • They have created a rule for “screen time” in which they must do one lap in the pool to earn one minute of time they spend each day on the computer or in front of the television. Um. Okay guys, great idea, but who are you and what have you done with my real kids?

Last night we watched Mrs. Doubtfire.  Tonight Imp’s at a sleepover so Babygirl and I watched 27 Dresses. Now she’s dreaming of her own wedding… and so it begins. I’m loving this time with my little girl.  She’s a changeling right now… still wants her songs at bedtime and to snuggle with me on the couch, but when her friends are around I am invisible. Can we back up six months and press pause?  Thanks.

I’m a Barbie girl… er…

The ending is worth it. And yes, the one on the right belongs to me.
